
One
of the most powerful tools in StageIT is the ability to edit
clip properties. Using the Properties window,
attributes can be adjusted for any clip or object placed in a
stage, allowing for the
creation of very realistic effects in a simulation . You can
make objects fade in or out, adjust transparency levels,
change sound levels, delay when objects will appear in your
simulation, change the speed at which clips play and resize or
relocate objects. Properties that cannot be adjusted for a
particular object will be dimmed in the Properties
window or will not be available on the list.
In the window above
you can see that in the “Stage” called “Bryce Run Out
Video” the clip called “Single Explosion” is set with a “Start
Delay” of 7 seconds. Here is a download link to a

Once you become
familiar with managing properties you will find that you have
nearly limitless control of the objects in your Media
Library. Some of the
properties that you can adjust to modify the
simulation are:

Size – varies the
size and aspect ratio of the media numerically or by click and
drag.

Speed – varies how
fast the clip runs
§
Duration – varies
how long the clip lasts
§
Fade – allows the
clip to appear or disappear gradually
§
Start delay –
delays the start of a clip after the start of the
stage
§
Transparency –
varies how see-through the clip is
§
Visibility –
controls whether you can see the clip during editing complex
animations
§
Layer – sets
which layer appears in front or behind the others
§
Insert type –
to appear one time only or to fill entire length of
stage
§
Mute – to silence
the audio on a video or audio clip during editing
§
Mark In / Mark out
– lets you select which portion of a video or clip you want to
use
§
Volume – sets level
of audio clip or clips for a mix down
§
Location – gives X
and Y coordinates of a clip set by dragging or entering
values
§
Rotation – allows
you to rotate an image such as smoke damage to fit the
scene
§
Flip – takes an
image and flips it left to right or up to upside
down
